Food Called… It Wants Your Respect Back

Creativity with our food preparation is essential to not only maintaining balance within your diet and lifestyle but also key to maintaining your diet in general. Eating healthy should not mean a sudden death to tasty food. There are so many ways we can prep and dress our meals, that the options are endless. We have so many food options, as we are some of the luckiest in the World for how plentiful our grocery stores are, as well as packed with variety. There are thousands of spices, sauces, marinades, dry rubs, variations of flavours, and different cuts of any food item we want. Not to mention all the amazing food prep inspiration we have access to, on literally any social media platform on any device. At your fingertips, thousands upon thousands of recipes. All it takes is a little google search or a Pinterest pin and voila, endless variations of chicken recipes.

And yet, we are still bored of our food. Eating healthy will only promote more positive aspects in your life. Being a healthy person is nothing to be ashamed of, or anything to put down. You can eat the same sort of thing everyday and have it taste and prepared differently every time. The longer you eat healthier and the more amazing effects you feel, the more you will have a passion for finding healthier ways to make your food.

Although we have thousands of sauces, spices, and recipes available to us, it is true not all of them are healthy and should not be included in your diet. It is more difficult to find sauces and dressings that are lower in sugar and fat than there are healthy. That being said, there are more options available than ever before. Shopping at grocery stores like Whole Foods, Natures Emporium, Healthy Planet, and other organic grocery stores will have tons of clean dressings and cool spices. I used to think shopping at these stores would be more expensive, but sometimes that really is not the case. I recommend you broaden your search, go down isles you never have before, and really try and get creative. If you look up a recipe and it involves unhealthy ingredients, as long as those ingredients were not the integrity of the dish, I am positive they can either be completely removed, or substituted with a healthier option.

Keep in mind, if you have a favourite dressing that is semi-healthy such as a low-calorie creamy dressing, using 1 tbsp. of it on your meal is not going to make or break your results. That 1 tbsp. might actually be the difference in you sticking to your diet or not believe it or now. So if something simple like that makes it more enjoyable for you, then go for it.

To save you some trouble, here are some random things I personally use, and would recommend making your food more fun and delicious:

  1. If you are searching for a sauce or a dressing, here is a ball park nutrition label I would deem suitable:
    Per Tbsp:
    10-30 calories
    1-3g fat
    1-2g sugar

3. Best Dry Seasoning
ClubHouse: Roasted Red Pepper and Garlic, Greek. Tex Mex
Flavour God: Jerk is my favourite, all of them are delicious.

5. Best Condiment(s)
Kimchi/Sauerkraut (A mix of each, or both separately. Both are in the fermented family and therefore are very high in probiotics and will promote healthy gut bacteria)
